In a heartwarming ceremony filled with accolades and inspiration, the Al Barkaat Educational Society awarded the prestigious S. M. Afzal Memorial Scholarships to outstanding students, continuing the legacy of the late Mr. S. M. Afzal, IPS. Distinguished guests and speakers graced the occasion, making it an unforgettable event for the educational community.
Mr. S. M. Ashraf, IRS, Vice President of the Al Barkaat Educational Society, delivered the welcome address. He explained that the S. M. Afzal Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of his younger brother, the late Mr. S. M. Afzal, IPS, who passed away in 2020. Mr. Afzal's enduring commitment to advancing education inspired the creation of this scholarship, which has been awarded to meritorious students since last year.
The event commenced with the President of the Al Barkaat Educational Society, Prof. S. M. Amin, extending a warm welcome to the esteemed chief guest, Mr. Shalabh Mathur, IPS, DIG Aligarh. In a motivating address, Mr. Mathur emphasized the values of hard work, determination, and efficient time management. He also praised the late Mr. S. M. Afzal as a remarkable individual who embodied both excellence and humility, treating everyone as equals.
The Society's Vice President, Mr. S. M. Asraf, extended a warm welcome to the guest of honor, Mr. Vikas Chaturvedi, an eminent industrialist from Kanpur. Mr. Chaturvedi shared his personal connection with Mr. S. M. Afzal, highlighting their close friendship and Mr. Afzal's role as an invaluable advisor.
Prof. Akhtarul Wasey, President of Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur, spoke about the virtues of hard work and competence in one's endeavors. He praised the late Mr. S. M. Afzal for his cooperative spirit and unwavering support for those in need. Mr. Afzal's commitment to the enhancement of education within the community was a testament to his dedication.
Prof. S. M. Amin, President of the Al Barkaat Educational Society, expressed his best wishes to the deserving scholarship recipients and shared heartfelt anecdotes about his younger brother, the late Mr. S. M. Afzal, IPS.
During the event, the Al Barkaat Educational Society also celebrated the success of one of its alumni, Mr. Asim Chaudhary, who recently passed the PCS-J examination. Mr. Chaudhary, a graduate of Al Barkaat Public School since 2004, attributed his accomplishments to the guidance of his teachers and the unwavering support of his parents.
Dr. Ahmad Mujtaba Siddiqui, Joint Secretary of the Al Barkaat Educational Society, served as the program's compère, fondly remembering the late Mr. S. M. Afzal, IPS, as a lively and cheerful personality who harbored no ill will.
The high point of the ceremony came as the chief guest, distinguished guests, President, and Vice President personally handed out certificates and scholarships to the meritorious students.
